What’s Happening to the Church?
If one sees “Church” as an operation of activities (singing, preaching, praying, collecting financial resources, etc.) I can understand why many 21st century Americans are calling for something different. When there is degeneration to such, I understand the call for deconstruction. If the collective faith of the gathered fails to color their lives with the living presence of God and a clear, effective, practical victory over sin or disobedience to the revealed Word of God, I can understand why many would move toward a belief that Truth cannot be known or experienced.
What I also understand is that the realities which face the 21st century Church will not be resolved by dissolution or an embracing of ignorance.
Rather, we must return to the Truth. Clear, unmistakable, undiluted, unvarnished Truth. Find it in the Word of God! – or find someone who can.
We must return to family – the family of God, meeting regularly together to dine at the table serving the Bread of Heaven and the Water of Life. We must carry out God’s design which is God’s family accepting, forgiving, caring, supporting, encouraging, building up in the Faith, and ministering His grace, which is to say, practicing the disciplines of llove, toward one another – without fail, and without end.
The Church is the Bride of Christ for whom He gave His life. You can’t be the Church alone. You can’t be the Church absent Truth. You can be the Church without obedience, sacrifice, and clarity of purpose.
Feel free to disagree. God gives everyone the right to be wrong.
