Who Do You Trust?
I guess I am so cynical I find myself being amazed that some (a few; a lot; many) people actually expect our politicians can be trusted.
Anna Tinsley, in a Star-Telegram article quoted the following –
“‘I guess we probably did put too much hope in him. I know that I did. I feel disappointed and a bit betrayed . . .I feel like he has turned his back to those that voted him into office.’ Now anti-war protesters — who have been somewhat subdued . . .— are ramping up protests, bluntly reminding [President]Obama that they expect him to fulfill his campaign promises.”
Politicians have been making promises, during campaigns for office, since, well, George and Martha decided that George would take a stab at running the Executive office. What we have learned over the years is – believe none of what you hear and only about half of what you see.
Our Heavenly Father, on the other hand, has established clear, unchanging, abiding Truth. When He speaks you can believe it, count on it, take it to the bank (so to speak). In His revealed Word are precious promises that give us hope, joy and peace, and a certainty for the future.
Politicians come and go – much like their promises and commitments. God’s Truth remains forever.
