Will It Spread?
One of these days the U. S. Government is going to have to close the spigot on public consumption of private holdings. Those at the spigot will vastly outnumber the contributors to the trough. Even the slightest tightening of the belt leaves some to go berserk.
In London, groups of young people rampaged for a third straight night, setting buildings, vehicles and garbage dumps alight, looting stores and pelting police officers with bottles and fireworks into early Tuesday. (Associated Press)
How soon will those actions become commonplace in the United States. We are not unfamiliar with riots in the streets, but they are probably less common here than they have been in other places. These mentioned above seem to be the result of the afore mentioned “belt tightening.”
It is, of course, allowed by the moral collapse of a society. Right becomes “whatever” is right for me, or “whatever I believe” is right for me. Care and concern for others is forfeited and their property becomes fair game in my quest for whatever I want. It is the height of selfishness that began with Cain (A Biblical narrative from the Bible) and works it’s way though people until it collapses entire Nations.
Will it spread? It always has. Plastic bullets and water canons provide temporary help, but the Enemy “comes in like a flood.”
Is there hope? Sure! But. . .not many are really interested in the exercise.
