Thought For The Day

Just Say Nothing

Now that we have had another terrorist attack (while the quote below, as with most, if not all of the authorities, continued to call it an “attempted attack”) our security personnel seem obsessed with making sure terrorists know exactly what we are going to do and how we are going to do it.

Here is a comment from Eileen Sullivan, and AP writer: – The names of dozens more people have been added to the government’s terrorist watch list and no-fly list after a failed terrorist attack on Christmas prompted U.S. officials to closely scrutinize a large database of suspected terrorists, an intelligence official said Monday.

The story goes on to name the countries, and sometimes airports, where we are increasing security, and the news about where we are doing “body scans” and “pat-downs” is posted. Any terrorist worth his salt will pick another airport in another country. We have yet to announce that we will be profiling terrorists according to the known, certifiable, reliable, consistent facts in this matter.

The undeniable fact is that we (as Americans) are vulnerable. Terrorists can get to us whenever they like. We have caught some, we will catch others, and maybe in the future (if there is one) we will be less hated. We need to be reminded, of course, that giving up liberty for a little security is a departure from the American way of life.

What we really need is Jack Bauer. But, he’s not coming.

What we have is a Nation slipping down the slope away from the protection of Almighty God. We have asked Him to leave us, and I am afraid He is answering our plea. I think it’s time for, “Praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition.”
