What Shall We Do
THE TRUTH: Outgo is up. Income is down even if it is up. The cost of living rises faster than a flood when your river house is two feet above the water line. Health care is going to get more expensive – just believe me. Plastic/paper bags at the grocery are going away or costing you a goodly sum. Credit card rates and/or fees or both are going up. Banks are lending less, your ability to borrow money is decreasing, and more and more roads and highways have tolls. Insurance will cost more and provide less benefit, and the cost of doing business is on the rise. Taxes are exorbitant, movie prices are out of sight, gasoline costs as much as milk, and eating out on a few bucks is a distant memory.
THE TRUTH – The “land of opportunity” is becoming the land of unsustainability. Those who have less have even less. Those who have more are hurting and that always hurts everyone else. Some want to take what others have and give it to those who don’t have, and while some get rich on the backs of the poor, some get poor on the back of a corrupt system that favors the ill-equipped.
THE TRUTH – God is still on the throne of Heaven. He remains in control of life and life abundant. Grace is free, hope is available, peace is surpassing and help is a heartbeat away. The Church is still open, still ministering, still capable of competent counsel, and is still the vessel that contains the message that leads to life.
THE TRUTH – No one can keep you from God, and no one can keep God from making His children happy, fulfilled, and joyful about every day. He still redeems the lost and empowers the redeemed. Everything from the beginning of the world to the end of your days is in His hand. He still uses useful people and makes the useless useful and the worthless worthy.
What shall we do?
