Persecution?
I wrote a note about Chick-fil-A just a few days back. I am going to revisit that issue.
I am not one for “protests” (is that always “against”) or for “marching in support,” of things, however, I do feel strongly about many issues for which people do those things.
I like Chick-fil-A sandwiches, and other items on the menu, but that aside, the Chick-fil-A restaurant I go to is the cleanest, most friendly, most servicing, most welcoming place I eat. In addition to “order takers” who are smart, quick, accurate, and kind, the other folks who work there in a variety of roles are the “nicest” people I ever encounter while eating out.
Now they seem to be under “attack” for CEO Dan Cathy’s stand on supporting the Biblical model of home and family. I doubt that the “attackers” will have much effect on their business, but it does give me the opportunity to support those who appear willing to be vocal about what they believe. (They have always done that quietly by being closed on Sunday.)
August 1, 2012 is Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. I am going to stop by, have a sandwich, and tell every employee I can talk to there that I appreciate who they are and what they do. I doubt that will make much difference, but it will make me feel better. I usually just say “thanks.” I am going to do better this time.
