One Week
One week from today (December 18) it will be Christmas Day. I have yet to buy a single present, or even spend time looking. My incredible bride will not be disappointed if I put nothing under the tree for her. Christmas is all about giving for her, and receiving, while nice, is not all that important. I always feel cheap and discouraged when I get 10 presents and she gets two or three. Obviously, (like most folks I am sure) we buy each other things during the last half of the year and tell them it is an early Christmas present. As like the first half of the year – when it is a late birthday present.
I am so glad that the greatest gift ever given (our Savior, Jesus Christ) was a gift to all who will receive it. The Scripture is clear that “to all who receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God.” (John 1:12)
The gift of eternal life in the presence of God is never exceeded in scope and value, but it is not God’s only gift to mankind. Rather, there are gifts available all year long – yes, both as early “Christmas” presents, or as late “birthday” birthday presents. Make sure your faith is sufficient to claim all of them.
