Thought For The Day

Ignorance

When our Pastor stepped away from his desk this morning, I took a peek at his sermon notes preparation for Sunday. He’s headed for trouble! He’s actually going to talk about “ignorance” and its exponential growth in our society.

No one likes to be considered ignorant, or called ignorant, but if one describes ignorance as “not knowing what needs to be known,” it softens the blow a little.

I saw a bumper sticker on the Internet (as opposed to a bumper) that said – “Everything is fine, just keep watching TV.”  In that “vast wasteland” there are a few things you can learn. Have you ever watched the (former) Tonight Show with Jay Leno, when he asks questions of people on the “street,” and you, like me, thought it had to be a “set up?” Try it yourself. You will be shocked by the ignorance (forgive me, lack of knowledge) of people on every street.

It’s hard to “run” a Country when there is shocking ignorance about historic failures that are about to be repeated. It’s hard to remain optimistic when there is so much ignorance regarding evil in the World. It is exceedingly discouraging when the Truth of Scripture is ignored for a substitute message promoting the intrinsic value of humanistic positive thinking.

I think the old man (a euphemism for our ancient pastor) is on to something!
