Thought For The Day

New Church Group

You may not have been paying attention, but there has been a rather significant gathering of folk from literally around the World in Bedford this week. At St. Vincent’s Cathedral around 800 people have been meeting to form a new Anglican body here in the United States because of some disagreements in the Episcopal Church.

Their issues are varied, but a main thrust has been opposition to the ordination of homosexual men to the ministry and leadership of the Church. According to a report in the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, reporter Jim Jones quoted Robert Duncan, who will likely become archbishop of the group, as saying in a meeting this week,  “the big challenge is “to keep the main thing the main thing — sharing the transforming Gospel of Jesus Christ with all who will listen.”

Jones also reported,“William Wantland, retired bishop of Eau Claire, Wis., who has been an assisting Bishop to Iker (Jack Iker, Bishop of the Ft. Worth group that left the Episcopal Church), has said that the group’s new constitution and proposed bylaws ‘make it clear that sexual relations are permitted only between a man and a woman within the confines of holy matrimony. Fornication and adultery, including all homosexual acts, are prohibited.'”

I say, YEA!! We (the Church of Jesus Christ) need men and women who are willing to stand on the Truth of God’s Word, concentrate on the transforming Gospel, and refuse to be sucked into the abyss that is the Godless, liberal mindset that has confused God’s people utilizing the thinking of fools.
