Another Worry Ended
I try really hard not to worry about “things.” I know that worry is un-Biblical, hence, just don’t do it.
However, I have been concerned since my University days about the origin of life – and the main worry came from how the first chemical materials came together to form life which then migrated from the sea to land – frogs to fish to seals to horses to monkeys to man – so to speak.
Now James Cameron has solved the mystery for me. I can stop worrying about the issue. He has been sending his ocean landers to the bottom of the Mariana Trench – about six miles (36,000 feet) down. He is finding “abundant life” (excuse the reference) there.
In recent years, researchers have speculated that early life on Earth arose 4 billion years ago at subduction zones similar to the Mariana Trench. Temperatures were cooler in the deep trenches, and serpentine rocks may have provided the necessary chemical jump-start. “These deep-sea trenches are places were life might have emerged on Earth,” Cameron said. “These mysteries need to be unraveled. Hopefully, we will dive again.” (Yahoo News)
Jeez, Louise!
