Burn Something
This is my last post on this matter (I think). I am going to take a day off and I won’t know the outcome until Sunday – mostly because I really don’t care all that much.
If I were in the Pentagon, or the State Department, or the White House, and I really thought the actions of a single individual put American soldiers in greater danger than they are already facing (that is, people trying to kill them everyday), I would have somebody, or be somebody that would make a phone call to the person who said they would not do the deed if that happened. But that’s just me.
I have seen the pictures in the last few days of “Muslim” folk burning the Pastor in effigy, burning the American Flag (sacred to me), burning various other articles that are purported by them to represent “America.” I will wager a dinner at Bob’s Steak and Chop House that somewhere, somebody has burned a few Bibles over this – where is the Media when you need them? What’s a few books (considered holy or not) when you can print in five minutes a thousand more to take their place? It’s not that big a deal.
If I were the “Media” I would stay home. The best thing these few folks can muster will be a I-phone video on You Tube. So far the Media has propelled this foolishness (5o people and a nearly illiterate preacher) to mythic status with world-wide coverage. This is not “covering news” this is “making news” and that has become one of the real problems in our society.
So far as I know, nobody has burned a single Koran – certainly not these folks. And they probably won’t. But hey, it gives the Media another shot at “Christian” America and it’s dwindling population of ignorant, racist, Islamophobic, homophobic, pro-life, gun-toting, Bible spouting, Christians.
Mark me “on break” till this is over.
