Thought For The Day

Carelessness

Sometimes I wonder how people can be so easily fooled when it come to Scripture and the Truth about the Church of Jesus Christ. Then it comes to me –

Here is an actual, untouched, uncorrected, unedited (well, you get the idea) entry from my FaceBook friends page:  “prazy the lord that is true did u no thet i got the holey gost and can talk in tungs”

What this person did not receive is the ability to write our native language. It’s not just the lack of punctuation, capitalization, and pitiful spelling that concerns me, rather it is a lack of care regarding a critically important issue. Listening to people talk, and reading a lot of writing, I am aware of how, sadly, many of us have never developed, or have managed to lose, the ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and within the rules of grammar I was taught throughout the years of my formal education.

And if we are careless with written and verbal skills which are infinitely vital to our society, why would I not think that we are careless with our understanding of God’s Word and His Church. I can only imagine that this individual is mistaken, relative to the Truth, at least in part  because the attempt to communicate  the event is so poorly “verbalized.”

The reality is that people who are not critical thinkers are often misled. When that misleading is politically generated, we suffer as a Nation. When that misleading is financially generated, we tend to suffer monetarily. When it is spiritually generated, we lose wisdom, insight, enlightenment, and Truth – which in the end, leads to death.
