If you missed my comments (Truth Corruption – 3/23) regarding the “play” at Tarleton, this might not make a lot of sense. None-the-less –
The staging of a portion of Terrence McNally’s gay Jesus play Corpus Christi will be at 8 a.m. Saturday to a private audience of invited guests and relatives of the cast, Tarleton State University officials said Wednesday. Changing the time — it was originally set for 4 p.m. Saturday — and limiting the audience is meant to ensure the safety of students and visitors, said Liza Benedict, the university’s associate vice president of communications (sic). Star-Telegram – 3/25
I am pleased that the administration at Tarleton knows that those dangerous Christians probably won’t be out of bed at 8am on Saturday (10am on Sunday would be even safer). I am a little surprised that they would announce the time, however – if they were really concerned about safety of “students and visitors.” Could it be that this is just another attempt to make those who are offended by the “trashy” corruption of God’s (the One in whom our Nation trusts) Word look like a group of angry, unstable, murderous, criminal types?
I wonder what would happen if Allah (Muslim), or Yahweh (Jewish), or Buddha (Buddhists) was characterized in such a negative light – oh wait, we already know the answer to most of that.
Christians aren’t supposed to be offended, right? We’re supposed to remain quietly in the background, tolerant, forgiving, blessing, without so much as a whimper of disgust as Universities “broaden the horizons of our brightest Collegians.”
I’ve had it, frankly, with tolerance. I am continuing to stand with my Savior who said (and I paraphrase, if I may be so bold), “It’s my way or the highway!” (Translation: I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6) There’s not a lot of tolerance in those words!
