Thought For The Day

Do We Have the Power

Do we have the power to end this Planet as a reasonably livable environment ? I’m not sure, but I have been thinking about the reality that this terrestrial ball is an atomic creation, and if a nuclear war begins, all kinds of things could happen. We know that the Earth is going to be destroyed prior to God’s creation of new Heavens and a new Earth. Perhaps it will be man himself who triggers the ultimate end of life here. We (mankind) are good at destruction, and if Russia decides to resort to nuclear weapons and we respond in kind, it could get pretty hot. Then there is China and . . . .

I am confident that Believers will be gone. Christ is coming for His bride. My concern is friends and acquaintances who will not be going with us when we leave. Even some of those we llove most, left on Earth to deal what remains before the total destruction. If it gives you pause, perhaps it is time to begin taking seriously what the Apostle Peter had to say near the close of his second epistle:

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.  Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and Godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. ( 2 Peter 3:10-14)
