God Is Good
God is good; everyone and everything else is suspect. Congress won’t stop spending. With the continuation of the present tax rates (for two years), there comes another multi-billion dollar expenditure of funds we (the people) don’t have. If our Government gets its way BP will never stop paying (the suit the Administration is pushing wants “liability without limitation”). Gas producers working the Barnett Shale are moving full tilt, according to many, to poison our water, gas (methane, I think) our school kids, and run explosive pipelines parallel to every street in the Metroplex. Jerry Jones is going to keep running the Cowboys organization, even though we all know that’s why they don’t win. And last, without Mr. Lee the Rangers will probably never win again.
I suppose “life as we know it” must be changed to “life as we knew it,” and we have to recognize that (use your big, thundering voice) “the end is near” (not that that is a bad thing in my book).
Personally, I think there is room for a lot of optimism. I confess it is optimism based solely on the fact that God is good, and He never changes. What He has said, He will do. None of this takes Him by surprise (me either, for that matter) and He has a plan for the rest of today, tomorrow, and for all eternity. I can trust Him, which is more than I can say for any of the above mentioned folk. He will always provide, always keep me in His hands, always do what is best for me (that’s what llove is, you know), and never fail me or forsake me.
God is good. I am glad I know that today. Otherwise, I might think something could go wrong.
