It Costs How Much?
There is one thing I know for sure. God is going to bring this Earth and everyone on it to His conclusion, and that may be sooner than many of us think. Until that time, I have been hoping that our Nation would not collapse economically. There are many that are predicting such a collapse, and while we can talk trillions of dollars, I discovered a long time ago that every million dollars is a part of that trillion, and every dollar is a part of that million.
I was shocked (I guess I am not nearly as smart as I thought) to find out that our Congress appropriated $50 million each to the Republican and Democrat Conventions in 2008. I thought the parties and the participants paid for that. Duh!
Now hear this! CNN Washington reports regarding the Presidential inaugural: “Mayor Adrian Fenty agreed that costs for increased security and crowd control would dwarf the original allocation. And for a city facing a budget shortfall and the same economic downturn affecting the rest of the country, now is not the time to rack up debt, Fenty told CNN. Fenty predicted costs for the city would near $50 million, the same amount Congress provided to both Denver, Colorado, and St. Paul, Minnesota, to host the Republican and Democratic conventions earlier this year.”
Now if I can get my addition right, that’s $150 million. Can you afford that? I know, what’s $150 million compared to four trillion? Well, it’s $150 million. If someone or someones don’t get in control of our Nation with some fiscal responsibility we are going to go under. And, since President-Elect Obama seems willing to let this $50 million dollars get spent for his inaugural celebration – well, there’s no change there!
Come, Lord Jesus!
