Man’s Deficiency

I read in the Star-Telegram that calls to spousal abuse hot lines are up dramatically. The fact that men abuse their wife (and sometimes vice-versa) or other women in their life is a sad and disturbing reality.

What is it, we ask, that makes men abusers? According to the article by Mitch Mitchell,“It’s a sense of entitlement that some people have. Even though they would never publicly say that woman are property, their actions say something totally different.”

I am convinced that many men believe and behave as if women are somehow less than equal with them. John MacArthur, noted Bible scholar and writer says, “He (man) was incomplete without someone to complement him in fulfilling the task of filling, multiplying, and taking dominion over the earth. This points to Adam’s inadequacy, not Eve’s insufficiency. Woman was made by God to meet man’s deficiency.”

Men and women are designed differently to fulfill different roles in life and in marriage. Abuse of anyone is a violation of God’s design. Abuse of a spouse, and especially a wife or girlfriend by a husband or boyfriend is a crime that must not go unpunished. I am confident that Believers who are involved in such practices will incur the wrath of God.
