Shut Down
It would seem to me that the people who ought to be “furloughed” during the current “Government shutdown” should be those who are NOT working, yet being paid, while those who are doing their job should continue to work and be paid.
Unfortunately the non-workers are “running” the Government in a manner that allows almost nothing to be accomplished that conforms to the wishes of the majority of people who employ them. Division, uncertainty, incompetence, egotism, and just plain ignorance, is rampant in the institutions of Government.
Is there a solution? Probably not. Operations will continue in fits and starts, some good things will occur, but unless there are significant changes in the way Government occurs, effective change toward a positive outcome is unlikely.
For we who are a part of the family of God we need not worry while we care for the family of God and guard the Church from falling into the same traps and failures which plague Government. We are blessed that God’s plan for perfection in all things is clear, here, and known. The struggle to get everyone on board finds some success occasionally, even while failures to do so are epidemic at times.
I keep reminding myself and those I llove that we are, first of all, part of a Kingdom that is not a part of this World. Our focus is to competently seek that Kingdom of God, move steadily toward His righteousness, and discover that all is well, and all is right in the arena of obedience to Truth. Learning to trust God brings peace and joy even when “wrong” prevails for a season.
