The G. O. P. Godsquad
The New York Times published a very interesting article this week entitled, “The G.O.P.s Assertive God Squad.” The writer, Mr. Bruni seems to be greatly concerned that conservative, evangelical Christians have too big a voice in the Presidential sweepstakes.
Another presidential campaign is taking shape, and potential Republican candidates are beginning to speak with extra care — and sometimes with censorious hellfire — about certain social issues. As ever, they’re bowing to a bloc of voters described as Christian conservatives. But these voters are a minority of Christians. They have a disproportionate sway over the Republican Party. And because of that, they have an outsize influence on the national debate. (New York Times)
I am surprised at a few things. First, the writer appears to assume that the “conservative Christian vote” is hindering the Nation from moving forward with it’s Godless agenda. That does not appear to be true. Secondly, I am no longer sure real Christians have any sway over the Republican Party. The Party seems to be as lost as to what is right and good as the Democrat party. Thirdly, I don’t see even a small influence of real Christianity on the National debate. No doubt Mr. Bruni is not extremely competent in understanding what a genuine Christian (Believer) is . . . as is certainly true of the vast majority of people in our Nation.
The Public Religion Research Institute, a nonpartisan group that interviewed more than 50,000 Americans last year. . . put together what it is calling the American Values Atlas. The institute divided survey respondents into more than a dozen faith-related categories, some of which factored racial identity into the equation as well. White evangelical Protestants and black Protestants are separate groups, as are white Catholics and Hispanic Catholics. The institute looked at three issues: gay marriage, abortion and immigration. (IBID.)
The article goes on to tell us what they discovered. Let me condense it for you (at least my opinion of what it said). People who are opposed to gay marriage, abortion, and immigration, have too much voice in setting the “values” for our Nation. The number of people who oppose these issues are insignificant in the scheme of things, and need to be less heard in such matters as the selection of Presidential candidates, legislative issues, and values selection.
I am sure they are right regarding the numbers. Those conservative, evangelical Christians (born again, Bible believing, obedient to the Truth of God’s Word, Believers) are few. Therefore we have a choice – as I see it. We can hush up, give up, and wait for God’s judgment on America, or we can stand on the wall, blow the trumped, clearly proclaim God’s Truth, and find ourselves obedient even unto death – of our Nation or ourself.
I assure you the latter is the choice I have made.

I too have made the latter choice. No longer can we sit idly by as moral relativism triumphs in our nation. More people must rise to the occasion to speak out against the atrocities that are plaguing our nation and stand up for biblical truth. i hope my life reflects that goal. there is no greater calling than loving god and loving our neighbor. and if that means suffering persecution and ultimately costs us our lives, then it is a sacrifice worth making.

Thank you for making the Latter choice.
