The President at Notre Dame
Amos, a prophet from the Old Testament spoke of a time when there would be a famine of Truth which would plague society. I pray that is not coming to fruition during our days. We must always hold forth the Truth regardless of the power or prestige of individuals who question it.
In an Associated Press story by Julie Pace, there are some comments and a conclusion that must be corrected. She says, that in his Commencement Address at Notre Dame, “[President] Obama called for ‘open hearts. Open minds. Fair-minded words’ in the public debate over the issue, arguing that there was no reason to reduce the other side to caricatures.”
I don’t know what it means when he speaks of reducing “the other side to caricatures,” but I do know the Truth. There is nothing to be “open-minded,” or “open-hearted” about. Abortion is pre-meditated murder and it is against the laws of the United States of America. Far beyond that, it is in violation of the revealed Word of God.
The conclusion drawn from the President’s address is that we need to find some “common ground” on this matter. There is no “common” ground. There is one Truth, and one Truth alone. I have written earlier, and I repeat it here. There is only one step between abortion and euthanasia and the next step beyond that is genocide. For example, if we are willing to end in the womb the life of a human being ( human life begins at conception ) because it creates a hardship or an economic difficulty for a parent, what hinders us from taking the life of a parent because it creates a hardship or an economic difficulty for the off-spring? Or perhaps we will come to the conclusion that our society would be better served if those who disagree with the majority (which in this case happens to be “pro-life” according to the latest poles) were simply eliminated (genocide).
The President is wrong in his assessment of the problem. God is right in His. Period, paragraph.
