Trying to Understand

I understand there is a movie coming to theatres on September 25. “Lord, Save Us From Your Followers,” is the title of the film, and while only a crazy person would promote a film they have not seen, I think I am anxious to see it. I am told the filmmaker travels the United States asking questions in an attempt to learn how Christians act in relationship to how they are supposed to act. He said in an interview, “Am I the only person asking these questions?”

Well, no. Just last Sunday my pastor made the following statement. “What I see in the life of most of us is not what I understand, from the revealed Word of God, I ought to see. There is a disconnect regarding what the Scripture calls for, and what I am willing to give.”

Listening to many people who clearly proclaim to be part of the family of God, and hearing their lack of knowledge and understanding regarding the Word of God, all the while seeing how they live their lives, leaves one confused, at the very least.

The filmmaker (mentioned above) says he captured  a range of “opinions,” because it seems that everybody has one. Maybe it is time to get God’s people separated from the opinions of men and cognizant of the Truth of God’s Word. Of course that would change how we live, think, and act, assuming that we really are part of the family of God.
