California Fires Rage On
I really can’t imagine the magnitude of those fires in the California mountains. I have seen some pretty big fires, and fought a few smaller fires, but those are just awesome.
I heard on the radio one man say, after being told to evacuate, “I am not leaving. If my house goes, I am going with it.” That is some commitment to a house. Of course he is confident that he will be able to do something to save his house and property (or others will), and is probably not a man who has worked around fire sufficiently to understand its incredible power and seemingly infinite changeability.
I can’t help but think about those folks in our communities and neighborhoods who fail to understand or choose to ignore the “fires of eternity.” A significant number of people who believe in Heaven do not believe in Hell, where the fires of eternal separation from God rage eternally. The Scripture is clear that those who ignore the Savior will spend eternity separated from God’s grace. People who are so enamored with this life that they are unwilling to leave what they cannot keep, to embrace what they cannot lose, continue to exists among us.
I hope that guy in California is saved from himself and his commitment to a replaceable house. I pray the people around you and me discover life in Jesus Christ and are delivered from a Godless eternity.
Keep spreading the Good News.
