Do Something

I am sure that somewhere along the way you have heard the admonition, “Don’t just stand there, do something.” Here’s an improvement on that. “Don’t just do something, do something worthwhile.”

There appears to be a significant number of people who want the Congress of the United States to “do something.” Those folks talk about bi-partisan action, working together, putting away the divide between the parties and legislating.

Well, I for one wish they would not just do something – rather, that they would do something with value for the American Citizen. I would like for them to pursue legislation that is Constitutional and within the scope of their purview. I would like for them to become an equal member of our Government again and stop being pushed around by the Executive and Judicial branches of our “three-part” system, and get to work.

I understand that Congress (the Senate and House of Representatives) has an approval rating somewhere around 14-16 percent and, I understand why! Actually I personally think that is a little high.

What would the Church of Jesus Christ get accomplished if the operated like our Government? Well, probably about the same thing they are getting done now. Most folks are content with the status quo. What the Government and the Church both need is wise, competent, committed to task, leadership.  Both have a long, long way to go.
