Thought For The Day

Follow The Money

Just to demonstrate how naive I am, I thought we were still trying to hide the fact that the Presidency of the United States of America was captured by something other than money. I though we were trying to maintain the idea that those who would contend for the “highest job in the land” were men, or women, who were Constitutionally sound, right on the issues, knowledgeable in foreign affairs, effective in handling America’s economic engine, competent to manage the armed forces of the United States, worked hard at keeping Government small and unobtrusive, and were great, inspiring, bold, visionary leaders.

I know the last of these was a man named Reagan, and even he didn’t always get it right, but now is appears we don’t even subscribe to the illusion.

In an article in TIME regarding the possible candidacy of Mitt Romney (won’t this be his THIRD time to lose?), there is no question it is all about money.

Now many of those same money men are being aggressively courted by one of the only other Republican powerful enough to loosen Romney’s grip on the party’s purse strings. Jeb Bush’s December announcement that he will “actively explore” a 2016 run has upended an already crowded GOP primary field, including the chase for the small circle of wealthy Republicans whose deep pockets and broad networks can lift a candidate to the nomination. (TIME)

Now, let me be clear (where have I heard that before?). I have known for a long time that it’s all about the money, but I thought we were keeping that a secret. Have we always been bold enough to say “deep pockets and broad networks can lift a candidate to the nomination.” When did we start proclaiming (though it has always been true in modern times) that it’s not about the political issues, but about the money.

Thank God we never have that problem with the TRUTH. We can just say what is True, live what is True, build our lives on the Truth. There is nothing to hide, cover up, work around, or see fail. Those who live in the Truth always win. What an amazing thing is this TRUTH.

If you are one of those “deep pocket” folks, here’s a better idea than financing a losing (or winning) political campaign – take a real Bible preacher to lunch. He will give you some TRUTH money can’t buy.
