One More Time
I had another one of those “I Wish I’d Said That” moments. Sometimes people say things as well as they can be said. They are clear, unequivocal, and succinct. I hope someone says that about me someday.
Anyway, a friend sent me a transcript of a blog he had read, and you need to hear at least part of it. It was written by Dr. Russ Ogden and is called Perspectives (June 23, 2009). Here is what he said, in part, as he discussed the problems we face as a Nation when leadership sees everything from a “dialectic/pragmatic” perspective.
“God does not dialogue well. He regards the absolutes of Scripture settled. Marriage is fixed as he created it—a man and a woman united for life. God does not regard sexual union outside of marriage as tolerable. God regards a female ovum impregnated by a male sperm as human and abortion as murder. Popular opinions and majority votes are insignificant to God. He condemns the concept of human autonomy. He sets limits to sensual indulgence. He warns that all humans will ultimately give account for their lives to Him. If there is one thing humans hate more than any other, it’s the idea of giving account to a superior being of the way we conduct our lives.
If the anti-Christian forces in America succeed in removing all references to God from our national life, America will plunge into atheistic socialism with all of its attendant evils. The freedoms we have known since our nation’s founding will vanish like the morning mist. The nightmares of godless tyranny will become reality.“
Dare I say it — “I Wish I’d Said That!”
