Thought For The Day

It’s Just Truth

No matter how much one might wish something is true that is not, nor how statistical information appears to find an increase in “Believers” supporting that which God has forbidden, the validity of what God has revealed in His Word – often repeatedly – does not provide any avenue for a Believer to depart from the Truth.

Let me cite two examples:

1) Earlier this year, Wheaton College parted ways with its only tenured black female professor, Larycia Hawkins, after she wore a hijab and wrote a Facebook post expressing solidarity with the Muslim community, saying, “As Pope Francis stated last week, we worship the same God.” (TIME)

Imagine if Elijah, on Mt. Carmel, rather than standing firm for Jehovah God, would have said, “we worship the same God” (see 1 Kings 18:30ff)

2) InterVarsity Christian Fellowship USA says it will start a process for “involuntary terminations” for any staffer who comes forward to disagree with its positions on human sexuality, which hold that any sexual activity outside of a husband and wife is immoral. A position paper  also outlined theological positions against divorce, sex before marriage, pornography, cohabitation and sexual abuse, but the practical application of the study focused on implications for the LGBTQ community.

Evangelicals are increasingly divided over gay marriage, and support is rising, especially in the younger generations. One in four white evangelicals supports gay marriage, according to the Pew Research Center, more than double the support from 10 years ago, and nearly half of millennial evangelicals favor or strongly favor gay marriage. That is still the lowest support of major religious groups in the U.S. — nearly 60% of Catholics, by contrast, support same-sex marriage. (IBID.)

While the Roman Church is wrong about most things, God’s people must never be swayed by polls, “modern” thinking, or wishes and dreams. We must know that the Word of God is clear, relevant, unchanging, and demands our obedience.

I don’t have to hate someone to say they are wrong…i don’t dislike anyone because of what they believe…but they visibly hate anyone who does not agree with them….i think Jesus explained all that very well..
