You have heard the old adage – “There’s no free lunch.” Right now there are a lot of consumer items that offer 0% interest when you purchase. The Federal Reserve is toying with the idea of a .50% rate or less on the money banks loan banks, and Congress and the President’s administration seem intent on loaning money to “big three” automobile companies on top of the billions that have seen their way into big business’ pockets already. Some say it’s “free money.” Meanwhile, the economy stumbles along trying to figure out whatever happened to free market enterprise, capitalism, and competitive excellence which leads to success in any free market.
