Thought For The Day

A True Statement by a Politician

I don’t want to paint all politicians with the same brush (though it seems awful easy at times), but it does seem harder than it used to be to find genuine Truth in Government words.

In today’s “News” I did find a true statement regarding the United States Tax Code – and that is incredibly difficult. In response to a “watchdog report” we hear the following:

“This report confirms that the code is 10 times the size of the Bible with none of the good news,” said Rep. Dave Camp, chairman of the House and Ways and Means Committee. (Yahoo News)

Now we are finally “on track.” The U. S. tax code is totally opaque to the average taxpayer (and I think to everyone else also – though some would say they “get it”). Congress has made more than 5000 changes in just the past 10 years (averaging about one per day). There is great concern on the part of many that the code will change even more rapidly with the current leadership.

Meanwhile, the Bible is crystal clear. For the Believer it even comes with it’s own illuminator, and it has never changed – and never will. While the tax code is mostly bad news, the Scripture is all “good news.” While one might think the Government “hates” the taxpayer and does everything possible to confuse, confound, and distress them, the Bible continually focuses on how much God lloves us, and clearly and purposefully lay out the plan of redemption.

I don’t have a suggestion for you regarding the tax code. On the other hand, our friendly Pastor/Teacher has lots of counsel regarding the Word of God. So do a multitude of others. If you need help, don’t hesitate to ask at your local Church.
