Thought For The Day

Again

Today (10/22/17) I will be speaking at a Church where I first spoke 34 years ago. I am really excited about the opportunity. I know there are some friends who still attend there and I am anxious to see and talk with them.

A lot has changed since then. I am much older (and a little wiser) and I have seen a lot of the World since I was last there. One thing has not changed. . .not even a little.

The Word of God is still sovereign. It is still reliable, dependable, trustworthy and sound. What Scripture said when the first Words breathed by the Holy Spirit were penned by the first writer, is still as true and accurate today as it was then.

There is a problem, however, with he equation. While God has not (and never will) changed, we have. It is not that we have stopped sinning and no longer need His grace, or that we are wise enough to conduct our life with rigid compliance to His design, or that we no longer need the Truth. Rather, it has been decided by many folk (maybe all, to some degree) that we just as “smart” or “smarter” than He. Confidence that we can live our lives, handle our affairs, discover happiness, joy, peace, and comfort without His revealed Word, and His indwelling Spirit, is rampant in our World. There are still lots of folks that are convinced that they can “work” their way to Heaven (if they still believe in Heaven).

Not so, of course! Without Him we are little more than animals going about our daily walk doing what we can to survive. The brain that He gave us is fabulously wonderful and men and women do amazing things. . .creative, artistic, sometimes altruistic, and capable of building and inventing and giving and serving. . .even producing more beings just like us. But without Him we are ultimately destined for eternal separation from Him.

I may use some different words today, but rest assured, I will still speak the unchanging Truth. No less is demanded! No less is acceptable!
