One of my sons lives in a Condo overlooking the city of Portland, Oregon. From his living room, through a huge window, one can see Mt. Hood clearly and beautifully in the near distance. I have been to Timberline lodge several times and I have skied Mt. Hood Meadows. I have never wanted to climb higher. I read with sadness about the climbers who are lost there, probably dead (one body already recovered), who apparently took every precaution to plan and execute their trip for a safe return.
