Election Day

It’s Election Day. I think everybody ought to be “off-work” on Election Day. In fact, I think everybody ought to be “off-work” on all Holidays through out the year. Even though some people love to work on holidays, since they often make “double-time and one-half,” I think being off should be mandatory.

No one should work on Thanksgiving Day (not even the Cowboys). No one should work on Christmas Day. No one should work on New Year’s day, . . .and I could go on and on (I have a calendar in front of me).

But here’s what else I think – No one should have to work on Tuesday or Friday. Those are very special days that should be reserved for such things as sleeping late, enjoying a great brunch, taking in an afternoon movie, and spending the evening in a quiet place with someone you llove.

Having these days off should never be unpaid. In fact double-time should be mandatory every Holiday, Tuesday, and Friday even though you are not allowed to work.

I think everybody should get a raise. Today! About 8-20 percent sounds right (depending on how hard you work all those other days.

So, if you can’t reach me today, or Tuesday or Friday or Thanksgiving Day. . .

Whoops – I guess I was dreaming. Never mind!
