Thought For The Day

Give Up Voting

How important to you is the right you have an an American citizen to vote? What would it take to place yourself in a non-voting posture for the rest of your life.  No voting for local government and issues that affect your daily life, no voting on National issues or for Congress or President of the United States, no voting for your local School Board, and no voting on who will run for any office for any election, ever.

I understand that some folks don’t vote. Never understood why, but so be it. I am amazed at the following survey that asked if one would forfeit his/her right to vote for a 10% pay raise.

The peculiar findings come from a survey conducted by LendEDU, an online student loan marketplace, that polled 1,238 working Americans. In exchange for the hypothetical pay bump, about 35% of these employees said they would sacrifice their voting rights for life. In addition, just over 9% of respondents said they would give up their children’s (or future children’s) right to vote for life for the make-believe raise. But those aren’t the only big sacrifices the respondents would make for a 10% annual salary increase. More than 12% said they would break up with their partners, and nearly 19% said they would give up their health insurance for the next five years, and nearly 18% would say goodbye to their Social Security benefits. (Money)

It is no wonder the the Scriptures speak about the evil that comes from a llove of/for money.

I was wondering if it might be cheaper to purchase people’s right to vote than to spend the billions that are required to get them to vote the way one wants them to.

Some people ignore really important things in their quest for more money. Some will forfeit eternity in the presence of God because they were “too busy” to find and claim the grace of God through faith in Christ. (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10)

It is a sad commentary on our society. We have a grim future on this Earth from the look of things.
