Thought For The Day

Health Care

Health care is expensive. For many, particularly those without insurance, it can be more than they can bear. Reform is mandatory.  The question is – do you want the U. S. Government to “take over” health care?

Much has been said about “socialistic” medicine, and many point to Canada and Europe and the incredible failures that system has generated. But we don’t need to go that far. We can see clearly and accurately exactly how the United States Government (not the Canadian government or the French government) handles socialistic medicine. Check out just two examples – one about which I am going to give you information, and the other you can garner yourself.

Think for a moment about who the U. S. Government provides medical services for: Native Americans and Veterans. Here is a quote from a “must read” article, and the information on how to find it.

“On some reservations, the oft-quoted refrain is “don’t get sick after June,” when the federal dollars run out. It’s a sick joke, and a sad one, because it’s sometimes true, especially on the poorest reservations where resident cannot afford health insurance. Official say they have about half of what they need to operate, and patients know they must be dying or about to lose a limb to get serious care.   When Stephanie Light took her daughter to the Indian Health Services Clinic in the wind-swept and remote corner of Montana, they told her the 5-year-old was depressed.  Ta’Shon’s pain worsened and she visited the clinic about 10 more times over the next several months before her lung collapsed and she was airlifted to a children’s hospital in Denver. There she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, confirming the suspicions of family members.

Here is  your U. S. Government Medical Service at work. You need to read this article in its entirety. It was published on Sunday, June 14, 2009. PROMISES, PROMISES: Indian health care needs unmet  by Mary Clare Jalonic, Associated Press Writer.

Then, find a sick veteran who is being treated at a Veteran’s Hospital and ask him/her how it is going.

I believe that God is the great physician, and that He actually heals people, sometimes miraculously, and sometimes through the work of dedicated, competent medical personnel. The very last thing we need is Government “playing God” with our health care system.
