Heaven Help Us!

Actually, I believe Heaven has helped already. If you didn’t see the Christian Science Monitor’s top ten reasons you know the economy is in trouble, I copied the top two for you —

9. You climb into your car, but then decide, “Shucks, it’s only five miles. I’ll walk.” 

10. The White House trades in the presidential limo for a Toyota Prius.

Watching banks collapse again (I’ve seen this before with the “Savings and Loan” debacle), I am reminded that the Scripture warns us regarding putting our treasure where “thieves break through and steal.” Seems to me that making loans to folks that have no collateral and no income is stealing the money of those who have banked it with the hope that it will grow, not disappear.

There is no doubt we need money to get along in this society, but getting everything in life focused on that and that alone, will always create problems. Rather, to focus on laying up treasure in Heaven (from whence comes our help) is one of the wisest activities you can undertake. Good economy or bad, nothing corrupts and no one steals that treasure. Plus, plus, you have the promise of God that for those who are obedient to Him, He will supply “all of your needs according to His riches in Glory.” (Philippians 4:19)
