Thought For The Day

Hope For Sunday Night

Television is one of those things that throughout the 1950-80’s made major changes in the way people experienced entertainment. And TV’s have changed a great deal along the way. Now, the instruments themselves are amazing.

Sharp has just released what is said to be the world’s largest LED flat screen television. It is four feet tall and 6 feet 8 inches long, with a 90-inch screen measured diagonally. The television is named the Sharp Aquos LC-90LE745U. (ABC News)

It been a long time since the problems were “reception,” or “bad antennas,” or the inability to get “cable.” Here we are in the 21st century and the reality is that there is nothing much (and that’s a stretch) on TV worth watching (unless you are into third grade bathroom humor, teen-age sex, and gristly violence). It is amazing that one can have 100+ channels and be unable to find anything that is genuinely entertaining (except SPORTS and the occasional old movie, of course).

But it fuels hope that all those people who no longer attend Church on Sunday evening because they are watching TV (I think it started with Ed Sullivan) might actually come back.

So unless the Cowboys or the Rangers are playing a late game on Sunday, our Preacher is expecting attendance to pick up. Don’t you think?
