Thought For The Day

It Leaks!

Well the boss advised me that there is a slab leak in the “main room” off his office hallway. Of course he wants me to find a plumber, supervise the work, get our guys to put the sheet rock back, then the paneling, then get the floor fixed – hopefully before Wednesday evening. (Ain’t gonna happen)

Slab leaks are hard to find (unless you have a truck full of hi-tec gear and someone who knows what they are doing). When you do find a leak, they are hard to fix, usually quite expensive, and take a long time. Bummer!

Reminds me that a lot of God’s children “leak.” Their enthusiasm for important things – prayer, Bible Study, Worship, ministry, participation with the Body, etc. – tends to “leak” away as time goes by. People get excited about what God has done in redeeming them, “spring up” like the weeds of Spring, and then begin to move away from the daily “calling” that is part of living as God designed.

Sometimes the “leak” is hard to find (read: explain), and doubly difficulty to remedy. We all experience it – I’m sure. Maybe what we need is some of that stuff – what do they call it – “Slime?”  You know, that green stuff one puts in tires that leak when one is too lazy to repair them?

Now, I expect the Pastor will object, but — maybe it is between 1045am and noon, and 6 to 6:45pm on Sunday or 6:30-8pm on Wednesday, that the “slime” is available (I”m in trouble now). It has to be more encouraging, strengthening, supportive and beneficial to be involved in the life of the Body – than “choosing lesser things.”

Got leaks?
