Thought For The Day

Losing America

If you’re wondering why I spend so much time talking about our political problems, it is because we are, at least in my opinion, losing America. When it is gone, with it will (probably) go our freedom to gather for worship, our freedom to proclaim clearly the Truth of God’s Word (already in deep trouble) and even our right to practice our Faith in private. That certainly has been the pattern in other countries.

What kind of people are being placed in positions of responsibility in this once great Country? If I have no reason to worry – let me know, will ‘ya?

“Tom Daschle apologized Monday to the Senate panel that will decide whether he becomes Health and Human Services secretary, saying he was “deeply embarrassed and disappointed” about his failure to pay more than $120,000 in taxes. In a letter to the Senate Finance Committee, President Barack Obama‘s pick to oversee the new administration’s health initiatives sought to explain how he overlooked taxes on additional income for consulting work, the use of a car service and paperwork to support claims for charitable contributions. Daschle recently filed amended tax returns to report $128,203 in back taxes and $11,964 in interest.”(Kevin Freking, Associated Press)

Is this not a man who “served” in Congress for years? Did he not participate in writing the tax laws? Does he not have an accountant and a tax attorney? My thought is, yes, he does! So if he’s not paying, it’s because he chose not to. When people who cheat (isn’t this tax cheat number two? And I haven’t forgotten Hillary and her “underwear scandal” either. And what about President Obama’s grandmother who says she attended his birth–in Kenya?) come to positions of authority, we are all being cheated. I fear we are being cheated out of our birthright – America, the greatest Nation on Earth.
