Thought For The Day

Making Sense

Sometimes I find myself agreeing with people with whom I don’t normally have much in common. I think that one of the most revealing statements regarding the thinking of our political leaders during these difficult days was made by Susan Fani, Director of Communications for the Catholic League. Her use of the words “doesn’t even make sense,” and “wrong on so many different levels,” hits the nail directly on the head.

“That’s not going to help grow the economy,” Fani said, in a One News Now article, “It doesn’t even make sense as a prospect for helping this country through our economic crisis. It’s wrong on so many different levels, and just shows…a very flawed thought process.”

Fani was commenting on Nancy Pelosi’s This Week conversation with George Stephanopolous on how expanding “family-planning services,” costing millions of dollars would stimulate the economy.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue finds her comments revealing. “We have reached a new low when high-ranking public office holders in the federal government cast children as the enemy,” he offers in a press statement. “But at least it explains their enthusiasm for abortion-on-demand.”

We are living in incredibly difficult times. Our political leadership is out of touch with the vast majority of Americans, totally ignorant, or seemingly so, of the Truth of God’s Word (abortion is pre-meditated homicide), and moving our Nation toward a sure and certain encounter with the justice of God. Only His mercy and grace have sustained us to this point.  Unless there is sweeping change, I don’t hold much hope for our future in this life.
