Thought For The Day

More Of The Same

Here’s a quote from the Wall Street Journal. “The list of crooked politicians is long, and the list of stupid politicians even longer. But if the criminal allegations made yesterday against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich are proven in court, rarely will a politician have combined the two qualities with such efflorescence.”

Actually, the number of persons in the US Congress who have some type of criminal record is astounding. I don’t necessarily hold it against someone that they have a criminal record (it’s hard to get your record expunged), but I do have concerns about those who continue in their crimes.

On the other hand, I do hold it against someone that they are stupid. Stupid can be overcome. There is no one who is elected to Congress that is mentally incapable (on second thought, there is Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi), it’s just that they choose to do dumb (read: stupid) things. And the dumbest thing of all is believing they know everything about how to fix anything (which may be exceeded only by the stupidity of those who believe that Congress-persons do have such knowledge).

I would be willing to wager that the the “Car Czar” (for example) won’t have the slightest concept about how to build a car, or operate a car manufacturing plant, or even have a history of selling cars. These current Government “bailouts” and all the ones to follow are not the answer, and “smart” people know that. Smart people know that if you leave the economy alone, allow the market to correct itself, and allow Capitalism to work. . .it will.

Jesus said, “the poor you have with you always.”I guess he was to “lloving” to say the same thing about the stupid.
