Thought For The Day

One Vote Short

Sometimes no matter how the vote turns out, the participants are one vote short – and it’s the only vote that counts.

The Presbyterian Church (USA) made a historic decision Tuesday night to formally recognize gay marriage and allow same-sex couples to marry in its congregationsThe largest Presbyterian denomination in the U.S. voted to redefine the church constitution on marriage to include “a commitment between two people”. . . .  The vote, which was approved by a majority of the church’s 171 regional bodies (or presbyteries), cements a recommendation made last year by its General Assembly. As of Tuesday night, the vote stood at 87 presbyteries in favor to 41 against with one tied. (TIME)

One vote was not counted. One vote was cast aside. One vote was of so little importance that it was ignored by 87 Presbyteries in order to establish an environment where those who violate the Truth will be allowed to believe that Truth does not matter.

“Finally, the church in its constitutional documents fully recognizes that the love of gays and lesbian couples is worth celebrating in the faith community,” Rev. Brian D. Ellison, executive director of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians. (IBID)

This is an old issue and God cast His vote long ago. He is opposed. He has clearly so stated. He will not hold guiltless those  who ignore His Truth. Sadly, others, led astray by these brothers, will likely follow suit.

May I remind you? Just as one can’t out give God, one can’t out vote Him either. Judgment will come – and sadly it will begin with those enlightened ones who rebel against the Truth.

P. S. Just a word for you Mr. Ellison (since I now seem to be in the “preacher bashing” business). If you need to celebrate something, celebrate the risen King of Glory, God Almighty, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, LORD of Llove and LORD of Life.
