Thought For The Day

Our Ministry

Our Pastor has been, since the first of the year, talking about “our Church” and what it is supposed to be about during these days. Today (March 4) was no exception. However, I never thought we would “sink” to begging. . .

2 Corinthians 5:20 says that our task as Ambassadors of the King (Jehovah God of Heaven) is to “beg men and women” to be reconciled to God. It is no wonder we have difficulty in pleading with others to abandon their sin when we are so persistent in ours. I must come to understand, he says, that I can never be effective in calling others to the obedience of faith if I am failing to practice obedience to faith. If I am not willing to practice self-denial, hatred of sin and self, and cast my absolute inadequacy into His total sufficiency, I will never be a “beggar” for other folks to come to Christ.

I am moved by the reality that on the Cross, when God looked at Jesus, He saw me. Now that I am redeemed, when God looks at me, He sees His Son Jesus. What an incredible message we have to tell to the people around us – our goal is nothing less than being on point in the World with the Good News of salvation through Truth alone, by faith alone, in Christ alone. What a calling! What a privilege! What a Savior!
