Thought For The Day

Out!

Reading the Sunday paper (online, of course) is one of those things I am going to stop doing – along with eating too much, working too hard, and spending too much money. I find myself getting alternately angry and/or discouraged.

It seems we’re out of money (Nationally and locally), out of water (the wells are dry and the aquifers are empty), out of honest Government (nothing new, but getting worse), out of highway (too many cars and too little concrete – and half of what we have is closed for restructuring), out of anything encouraging and worthwhile on TV or at the movies (“The Grace Card,” and the coming “Courageous” excepted), and out of morality for the most part (homosexuality, corrupt officials, and financial fraud dominate the news).

Perhaps the proverbial ostrich had the right idea all along.

The only thing we are not short on is the infinite, unfailing grace of God. Even that, however, may be coming to an end. If the current state of affairs is a harbinger of end times, we may soon see the end of mankind’s opportunity to be redeemed. Now that is a scary thought.
