Thought For The Day

The Mystery Settled

I have spent most of my adult life worried about whether we would ever find the “missing link” that proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that I descended from some class of prehistoric primates. If you know me at all, you know I have  been consumed with anticipation that we would finally know “from whence we came.”

Now, we have proof. There is still a little controversy – was this fossil “unearthed” two years ago as reported by one source, or in 1984, as reported by another. Please don’t be concerned that it was divided into two pieces, sent in different directions, and later pasted back together. Surely nothing could go wrong in that process. That old trick of putting pieces of one fossil with another fossil died out ages ago.

I’ve looked closely at the pictures, and it does kind of remind me of some of my family – a great aunt on my mom’s side several generations back. It’s the “fingernails” that did the trick for me. They are so alike (my aunt’s fingernails and this fossil) all my questions are subsiding. And there is more. We have learned that this thing’s last meal was “leaves and seeds.” And, of course, that is another proof because my aunt was a vegetarian. . .or vegan. . .or something like that.

At last, I no longer have to take God at His Word about this “impossible to prove” creation stuff. My ancestry is clear – it’s in the fingernails. Pay attention, folks. This is high drama – now that we finally have the “missing link.”
