Thought For The Day

The Myth

 “
President John F. Kennedy said, “The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie –deliberate, contrived and dishonest;  but the myth persistent,  persuasive, and unrealistic. “

There is little question in the mind of many Believers that they are ultimately going to spend eternity in Heaven. That Truth is clear from an accurate reading of the Scripture. However, it is often the same Believers who have escaped the lie and cling to that Truth while avoiding another Truth that prior to our infinite eternity with God we have a responsibility to the Church – the Bride of Christ. Those self-claimed Believers have swallowed the myth perpetrated by the Enemy that the “Body of Christ,” “the “called out ones,” the “Family of God,” which is called the “Church of Jesus Christ” is not worthy of their time and effort, their regular and consistent involvement, and their focused intentional commitment.

I am convinced, and the Scripture is clear, that mindset embraces a persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic myth. It is unrealistic to adopt a theological position that the Savior would establish a Earthly body of  Redeemed men and women, provide for that Body’s leadership, appoint and assign various tasks and actions to that very Body, and empower those Believers with His indwelling Spirit, to be about spreading the Gospel to those yet to come to faith, provide opportunity for intellectual, and Spiritual understanding of Godliness and righteous living, care for those who are in need of anything an individual may actually need, and provide resources to carry out, in His name, a multitude of Spiritual ministries to all mankind prior to His (Christ) return for His Bride.

Some, with public voice, have spoken to the myth that a Redeemed man or woman is not necessarily in need of participation with, nor holds      any personal responsibility to others who are, to whatever degree, involved in the life of the Church. That myth seems to grow more persuasive  and persistent with each passing season. It is time to abandon such thinking, and find empowered Believers who will, with Godly boldness, enter the fray defining and destroying the myth, and rebuilding the Body of Christ to the measure of His stature.
