Thought For The Day

What! Me Worry?

Remember MAD magazine. I seldom read it, and had no significant appreciation for its content. However, I am almost ready to start worrying. I am amazed the the fires of resentment which burn in the hearts of many American Citizens, and the unfounded hatred of those who are not, continues to be a source of ugliness in our society. It seems those who screamed loudest that President Trump supporters would “burn down the Country” if he lost, are the very ones who are now, figuratively speaking, doing the burning.

I don’t remember such vitriol after past elections. There have been many where some were sure the election of one of the candidates would be the end of America as we know it, but that has never seemed more possible than it does now. I, for one, am not afraid of the Administration, rather I am. . .shall we say, concerned, about those who seems willing to go to any lengths to bring about failure of everything the current Administration proposes.

It reminds me of the Church “fights” I have seen over the course of my life. God’s people choosing up sides and fighting over – Heaven knows what – until the Pastor is fired, or the Church is split, or the Deacons are replaced, or the Youth Minister, or Music Minister is tarred and feathered.

The Scripture is clear that it is God who choses who will rule and reign in Nations. I would hope that this clamor and angst would subside shortly. . .but I am not so foolish as to hold my breath. One Truth is for sure – God’s people best be on their knees with pure hearts and clear consciences believing it is certain that His Will will bring everything to His conclusion.

Sometimes I just want to quote the Apostle John who said, “Come, Lord Jesus.” (Revelation 22:20b)
