Thought For The Day

Where’s The Profit

In Scripture we are told that a man is not wise who profits even to gaining the whole World, if he then loses his soul to eternal separation from God. I am convinced that one of the real issues in life is the loss of one’s soul at the hands of incorrect information.

With the continual increase of “denominations,” “religions,” and “financial profiteers,” it is quite common to hear a host of theories regarding what one must do to obtain eternal life in the presence of God. Long-standing “church” doctrines have led people astray from the Good News since the Savior walked among men over 2000 years ago. Adherence to doctrines which are extra-Biblical or non-Biblical are worthless in regard to redemption. Foolishness at its height is the notion that “it does not matter what one believes, as long as one believes something.” Since the dawn of Jesus’s ministry on Earth people have. for example, equated baptism with salvation,  yet that spurious doctrine will deny access to the presence of God when this current life has ended, and we are faced with the life to come.

The Truth is not difficult to find. Over and over the Scriptures speak of FAITH, and it is that faith brought to us by the grace of God which leads to redemption. Two of the most important statements we find in Scripture are these: Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) Every other path is the path to destruction and eternal death. Then in Romans 10:9ff, Paul said that each individual must “confess with with the mouth, and believe in the  heart  (read: innermost being) that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, who gave His life on Calvary’s cross to redeem mankind from the curse of sin and death. Salvation/Redemption/Eternal life (as opposed to eternal death) comes by “grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.”

Attempting to profit financially in this world through foolish investments is unwise and will lead to ruin. Attempting to discover eternal life in the presence of God through means other than those clearly and accurately revealed in God’s Word is just pain foolish, and will result in eternal death. (See Ephesians 2:8-9)
