Thought For The Day

Winning the Fight

I was visiting with a friend who has some very serious medical issues. He told me that sometimes it is as if the Enemy comes to his mind and begins to speak with him about the future. He said, “it is a narrative like this:”

Listen, your days will soon be over and you will no longer be bothered by the things of this life. Everything ends at the grave. There is no future in Heaven. There is no Hell. This life is all we get and we should never be so foolish as to believe that there is a God who lloves and redeems us. Just relax and let the end come. The peace of absolute nothingness is just around the corner – and you will slip into oblivion with no concerns at all.

“Then,” my friend said, “I remembered Jesus in the wilderness after 40 days of prayer and fasting, being approached by the same Enemy and tempted to ignore the Sovereignty of God. And what came to my mind was this:”

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me.”

“And,” my friend said, “the Enemy flees.”
