Beautiful Men

Last night our Church Ordained three men we had invited to join our Deacon Council. It was a good evening with several guests, rich singing, and testimonies from each of the men. Our Pastor spoke about who Deacons are, reminding us that Scripture does not give us any insight into their particular tasks, but rather the mandatory characteristics of their Spiritual life and walk.

The three men who chose to serve our little Church, and that we chose to ordain, are beautiful men. I don’t mean that they are handsome, even though they are, but that they each have a beautiful heart and mind. They have chosen to become designated servants to our family of Believers, and I have no doubt they will serve us well. Each of them is a “man of God” clearly, without reserve, and possess an absolute commitment to the Church Christ founded and Shepherds.

Our Pastor spoke about the “calling,” the “attitude,” required, and the ultimate task of genuinely” lloving” those they will serve. All three have already proven (Scripture calls it the testing – see 1 Timothy 3:8ff) that they are ready for the confidence bestowed on them by their selection.

Perhaps it is the beginning of something amazing. At the very least it is a continuation of our commitment to Christ, His Word, and His family. God is not above making a small town Church, with less than a hundred attenders, a force for Christ in the community and the World. These beautiful hearted men are part of the future God has prepared for His people. I can hardly wait to see what is coming.
