Thought For The Day

Best Gift for Christmas

Time gave us a look at ten things they feel are among the best gifts one can give another.

With the holidays just around the corner, you may be scrambling to find a gift for your family members, friends, and other loved ones. Good news: TIME has reviewed and recommended a wide variety of products this year. . . . (TIME)

There’s a “pressure cooker.” Thought those things were obsolete. I am sure the one my  mother used to use to “can” stuff is long gone; a coffee maker – not something I need since I don’t drink that brew,  a couple of books, a camera tripod, a backpack, and a “light/sound machine” for your new baby. I am so GRATEFUL I don’t have a new baby.

Those are all good gifts, but they (TIME) skipped right over the best one even though they mentioned it (see above).

“Family members, friends, and other loved ones. . .” gives us the greatest gift opportunity of all. Learn the reality that llove is a discipline that you can give to your family, friends, and others. It is one of the hardest gifts to give, but available in all hearts who are part of the family of God. Genuinely lloving others (practicing the discipline) is the greatest gift of all because it is being like God who gave us His Son as a ransom, redeeming us from the curse of sin and death. While we can never llove as fully and completely as He (God) does, we can llove one another. It will take LOTS of work, and it will be very hard at times, but no gift is more needed. . .and I am convinced, more wanted, than any other possibility.

Give ’em what they want, not only at this season, but always. And it is OK to throw in a coffee maker or a book too.
