Thought For The Day

Common Decency

Politics is a dirty business. Perhaps that is why some Believers avoid the whole mess. We cannot do so, however, as this may be the most important Presidential election of this century. Surely what happens in the next few years will set the course for our Nation’s future – should it endure.

Joe Biden called for “common decency” in the handling of Sarah Palin’s personal life. Good for him. Rudy Giuliani said in an interview Wednesday with “Good Morning America” on ABC, “The media is ready to pounce on any mistake. … ” He’s right, of course.

There is no question that “character matters.” Experience is important. But we need to concentrate on matters of policy, Constitutional sovereignty, National security, and those things that are right and good for our Nation as a whole – rather than a select few.

With any individual it’s easy to find the flaws, turn up the mistakes, and twist words into meaning more or less than they do. The “media” seem obsessed with that task. The reality is there are massive, stark, clear, abundant differences in the focus and direction of the candidates of each party. Our undertaking is to sort through all the rhetoric, history, record, and spin, and make an intelligent, informed decision.

I know it’s not easy, but your future as an American depends on it!
